Scope of Work

We were engaged to deliver the engineering, procurement, and construction management of a new gas dewpoint analyser. The analyser was required to automatically sample the process stream and display and alarm both hydrocarbon and water dew points on the site DCS.

What We Did

Our client identified that they had no means to diagnose process upsets on one of their gas processing trains until the gas reached custody transfer point. Nor were they able to tune the plant to operate at its highest efficiency. To overcome these issues, it was decided to install a combined moisture and hydrocarbon dew point analyser and integrate it with the DCS, thus allowing the plant to be tuned to achieve the best quality and production requirements.

We were engaged to support the project from the FEED stage. Our initial work involved agreeing on the system requirements, determining tie in points for the new analyser, plus the development of datasheets, updated P&IDs and management of change paperwork. We then prepared a procurement package and ran a competitive tender process. Following the tender process, we completed the TBE package and were able to make a recommendation to our client on the preferred vendor.  

After award to the vendor we managed the engineering, vendor data review and FAT process, and developed a commissioning plan and other supporting documentation. Of critical importance to the project was meeting a defined completion date, to allow the equipment to be installed during a planned outage. Failure to meet this timeline would have delayed the project by one year.


Project Outcome

With careful collaboration and communication between Process Consultants, the vendor, and the client, the analyser fabrication, FAT, installation and commissioning was achieved as per the timeline that was governed by an upcoming shutdown window. The project was also delivered on budget, rounding out a very successful project.
